Case History # 1:
Herpes breakout on lips
Patient: 47 years old, Male, Asian
Major Complaint: Herpes
breakout on lips
Patient complained of herpes breakouts on the left side of his
lips. Normally, the breakouts would take about two weeks to go away.
In the meantime, he had irritation and pain all around the teeth and
gums, as well as a general uneasiness.
The day of the patient's first visit to our clinic was the
first day of a herpes breakout. He knew the herpes would become worse
unless he had treatment.
Diagnosis
Step One: Identify the constitution of this patient through
pulse diagnosis. The patient shows the characteristics of a water minor
constitution.
Step Two:
Identify the pattern of disharmony. Herpes infections belong to viral
infection in blood level, therefore disharmony is in the organ
disharmony among the stomach, gall bladder, liver, and pericardium
(the membrane enclosing the heart).
Step Three:
Choose the right treatment formula. Because this patient's organs are
in disharmony, he is unable to fight off a viral infection very well.
The formula that treats viral infections is:
Tonify
stomach four times
Reduce liver four times
Reduce the
pericardium
two times
All in one session.
Treatment
Results:
The patient
reported next morning that 80% of the blisters were already healed.
Mild irritation and pain lasted two more days before completely
disappearing.
Dietary
Consultation:
The patient
with a water minor constitution is born with a very weak stomach.
Their bladder is relatively strong, therefore "cold" is predominant in
his entire body. He must eat foods that keep his stomach warm, foods
that have lots of fire Qi (energy) such as chicken, potatoes, sweet
rice, brown rice, ginger, garlic, spinach, and tomatoes. What's more
important is the amount of food he eats. It has to be one quarter of
what other people eat. He should eat very small meals. That is the
secret of preventing all diseases for this patient.
